Dundalk, half way between Dublin and Belfast, is the “capital” of the North East, and was selected as a Gateway Centre for development under the Government’s National Spatial Strategy. The town is well served by road and rail infrastructure, located on the main M1/N1, 40 minutes by car from both Dublin and Belfast International airports and is at the centre of the economic corridor that runs along Irelands east coast.
As the region’s main population centre, it has an impressive array of shops, boutiques and retail parks. It is 15 minutes from Newry by motorway, which also boasts a wide range of retailing therapy solutions. Both towns, and the surrounding areas are well served by reputable restaurants hosted by top class chefs as well as a vibrant pub and unrivalled music scene.
Located at the foot of the Cooley mountains and the nearby Mourne mountains, the area is not just rich in mythological and historical heritage, it has stunning scenery with mountain walks and forests, that would give Connemara a run for its money. There are a wide range of leisure activities including golf, angling, water sports, shooting, equestrian and horse & dog racing and as well as football, rugby and indoor ice hockey.
There are a wide range of crèches, primary and secondary schools, (including gael scoileanna) in the area as well as the well regarded Dundalk Insitute of Technology.
Saltown is located next to crèches, primary and secondary schools, local shops, pub and the Rugby Club. The town centre and the train station are within a 4 minute drive, (15 minute walk)
